This blend was crafted by Mr. Onishi, the fifth-generation tea master of Kōhōen , a tea farm in Uji with a 150-year history. Kōhōen is known for its dedication to bringing out the unique characteristics of each tea cultivar, and has long embraced new techniques ahead of the curve, deepening the possibilities of tea-making.
By blending it with the well-balanced and approachable Yabukita, this matcha achieves a deep, rich profile that remains easy to drink and never overwhelming. With a perfect balance of sweetness, umami, and astringency, this matcha is excellent for koicha (thick tea), usucha (thin tea), or even as a base for matcha lattes.
